CRUSADERS SET FIVE PROGRAM RECORDS AT OAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

At the recent OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships several Crusaders stamped their name on five different records in the Capital Record book.  Among a host of great Capital performances during the championships these individuals distanced themselves and raised the bar for everyone else!

Program Record Holders Included:





Junior Emma McCarron set a program record in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:28:11




The Distance Medely Relay team of McCarron, Senior Sarah Trick, Junior Aimee Hall and Sophomore Jessi Knoll set a program record with a time of 12:26:67 (pictured Sarah Trick)                                                                                              



Senior Karen Steiger broke her own record in the 60 meter hurdles running a 9.88

Junior Josh Woods tied his own school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.58






Senior Alex Moore broke the 5K program record with a time of 16:06:33

Capital T&F adds more qualifiers for OAC Championships


The Capital University track & field teams hosted their final meet of the season Saturday, posting impressive results in the Capital Classic at the Capital Center Field House.

The Crusaders added several individual qualifiers to the field for the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, which take place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, in Westerville.

The women finished fourth in Saturday’s meet with 73 points, while the men produced a second-place finish with 81.5 points.

The 4x200 meter relay team of sophomore Andrew Appelt (Canal Winchester, Ohio), freshman Travon Bodrick (New Albany, Ohio), Corey Easley and junior Josh Woods (Marysville, Ohio) won the event with a time of 1:31.80. Junior Mitch Auchmuty (Cygnet, Ohio) was also a first-place finisher, taking the weight throw with a toss of 48-02.00.

Woods’ time of 22.91 in the 200-meter dash was good enough for a third-place finish a qualifying mark for the OAC Championships. Sophomore Nick Eley (Pickerington, Ohio) posted the best mark on the team in the high jump (5-09.75) and also qualified for the conference meet.

Senior Alex Moore (Hilliard, Ohio) rounded out the newly-qualified men in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:18.36.

On the women’s side, junior Emily Sheets (Gahanna, Ohio) won the high jump with a mark of 5-01.00.

Juniors Aimee Hall (Amanda, Ohio), Becca Steinemann and freshman Rachel Trautman (Hilliard, Ohio) each placed third in their respective events. Hall ran the 500-meter in 1:23.38, Trautman recorded a mark of 16-07.00 in the long jump and Steinemann posted a toss of 45-01.75 in the weight throw.

Events at next weekend’s OAC Championships will begin at noon on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday at Otterbein
